Statement Jewels

I lFullSizeRender-2ove that I begin wearing those pastel hues after Easter has past. But to dress it up, I added a little more bling to the story. Statement necklaces are the best way to dress up more casual or plain tops in your closet. Even though there are some crazy bejeweled ones out there that may look on the tackier side, there are some fabulous ones out there if you know how to spot them. This BCBG stateFullSizeRender-1ment necklace with cobalt blue jewels is very heavy in person. The different textures in the chain as well as the colors in jewel tones (gold, silver, and blue) are elements that were strategic in BCBG’s design. Because the majority of the tones are neutral, it helps to bring a more timeless look.

To add to this incredible piece, I am wearing a BCBG t-shirt in lilac gray, it has a little extra fabric on both sides to add length and asymmetrical and peplum. This plain tee needed a little more accessories and a little more bling, so naturally I added a white leather belt with gold buckle from BCBG as well. To round out the outfit, I threwFullSizeRender on some H&M jeggings and Lauren by Ralph Lauren flats. Oops, can’t forget the watch by Michael Kors.

Most of the time, I love my accessories. My outfit is never complete unless I have at least two accessories on. What are some of your favorite pieces… statement necklaces, arm candy, scarves, belts, handbags? I’d love to hear your thoughts down in the comments below! Perforated Wings

FullSizeRender-7Happy Easter everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful day with your families and loved ones on this day! I really can’t remember the last time I experienced an Easter egg hunt or gorged on massive amounts of chocolate bunnies or peeps. Actually I did have a bag of those malted robin eggs…. so good! I, myself, don’t really celebrate Easter to the normal extent most people do, so this was a really nice relaxing day with my loved ones! Today is supposed to be all about pastels and sundresses, however I wasn’t going anywhere special, so I decided to play it down today.

FullSizeRender-8Today’s outfit consists of this amazing BCBG cream perforated eyelet peplum top paired with some H&M black skinny leg slacks. Not that I needed another peplum top, this one I was a little uncertain of because of the dangling pieces, which kind of remind me of wings. What sold me was the variation and eyelet detailing all over this top. To distract from this winged peplum I had to accentuate my waist. I added an elastic BCBG gold braided belt and a gold heart pendant necklace. I have on my Michael Kors gold chronograph runway watFullSizeRender-9ch and some souvenir bracelets. My pointed toe flats are Rampage purchase from TJ Max and they were a steal! Love them!

I hope your day was full of pastels, sundresses, Easter candies, and loved ones! I would love to hear from you what you did this Easter. Please share your thoughts down in the comments below! Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter @jessthai! Thanks for reading!

Pop of Coral

FullSizeRender-3Pops of color are everywhere during the spring and summer months. The dilemma is…what color do you choose? What colors are best for your skin tone? For spring it’s always those vibrant corals and lime greens that pop out for me. This year seems to be no different. Although it probably should, the color of the year for 2015 is apparently a Marsala color that resembles a dark maroon, wine hue. However for Sherwin Williams, their color of the year is a Coral Reef. So I guess if people aren’t wearing the corals this year…FullSizeRender-4 copy 5at least it’s painted on a wall! Coral is a great color for almost all skin types and appropriate for all sorts of events like weddings, luncheons, or Easter (coming up). How many of you guys own something coral?

To add to this amazing coral blazer from BCBG, of course I had to match it up with some gold accessories (not that I don’t do that with almost every outfit or anything). I have a gold necklace with heart pendant, a gift from my mother. I paired a BCBG white sueded jersey asymmetrical tank with a BCBG white leather belt with gold clasp. I wore some H&M black jeggings and BCBGeneration pointed toe pumps. I have also paired up this outfit with some Ray-Ban oversized wayfarers and a Michael Kors white saffiano leather clutch with gold pyramid studs.

FullSizeRender-6know sticking to the neutral colors is always a given, but when the sun starts to shine, color is sometimes a necessity. It has the power of brightening people’s days, puts a smile on people’s faces, and makes you stand out in a crowd. Who wouldn’t that? I’d love to hear what colors are you guys starting to wear? What colors look best on you? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below! Don’t forget to follow me on twitter @jessthai! Thanks for reading!

Fur Feel Up

FullSizeRenderI guess this Reno weather has got me feeling up my furs! I was beginning to get used to heat, but then BAM (Emeril Lagasse style)…it begins to rain and temperatures drop down to 50 degrees! So I guess that means a little bit more of that sweater weather? I am so happy I invested in the fur vest, I contemplated a lot when they were starting to get big 3 years ago because it was really big and bulky and with some styles honestly made people look bigger than they really were. Why would we want to add pounds onto ourselves? Our mission is to find the right types of styles or possibly engineer new trends that will help show off our tiny waistlines or elongate our legs. This was something a little foreign to me. Of course then, I FullSizeRender-2started watching Rachel Zoe a stylist who was obsessed with everything fur and it got me in the mood. When I stumbled across this long black and grey BCBGeneration vest, I had to have it. It was lightweight, the length made it less chucky, and the colors were great!

I’ve paired up this fabulous fur piece with a really comfortable long sleeve from BCBG with lace sheer detailing down the middle and along the bottom of the top. This is one of my favorite tops cause it acts as a high low and added a little bit of length in the back to covFullSizeRender-1er the booty over my H&M jeggings. I have added the BCBG duo toggle necklace and my Michael Kors gold watch. To round it out, I wore some Charlotte Russe almond toe flats.

Furs will be all over this next fall as we’ve seen from my previous blog post from the Fall 2015 runway shows. How many furs do you own if any? If you don’t, what are some of your objections to them? I’d love to hear what’s on your mind down in the comments below! Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter @jessthai! Thanks for reading!

African Nights

FullSizeRender-5As I attend a special charitable dinner for SAIWI (Student Association for International Water Issues) which supports college students going to different parts of Africa to engineer and construct water sources for local communities, I was inspired by such a strong African tribal theme for the night. A long time friend has been apart of this organization for 2 years now and has organized this year’s dinner. It was filled with African foods, traditional drumming and dancing, and auction and raffle prizes for African art. After taking an MBA class on nonprofit organizations and learning about different organizations including SAIWI, I have grown a true admiration and respect for these leaders who have committed themselves into making a big difference for the benefit of society.

IMG_2430  My outfit is inspired by a Forever 21 tribal print tank, which I’ve tucked into these amazing BCBGeneration palazzo pants and paired with a Michael Kors skinny belt. These pants are seriously incredible, lightweight, flowy, comfortable, easy to pack, and super stylish! I need more! Comment down below to let me know if you know of more places that carry them! Of course, if you’ve read my last blog, you will know that I am continuing to wear my BCBGeneration sandals! I am also wearing my Forever 21 leaf drop necklace and Michael Kors gold chronograph watch and sentimental bracelets. My shades are the Ray Bans oversized wayfarers. Last but not least, I have brought out my Michael Kors quilted clutch in the color luggage.

Sandal Heaven

FullSizeRender-4Thank goodness for sandals! I swear after wearing boots and flats almost all winter long, it’s nice that my feet finally get to breathe. Let me tell you, I was not blessed with tiny Asian feet stereotype that family seems to have inherited. From all of those narrow fit shoes and standing while working all day, I have those dreaded growing bunions! I love flats, but can anyone tell me of a good brand that might be good for wide flat feet like mine?

Anyways, I couldn’t wait to bust out these babies! The BCBGeneration footwear has some amazing designs. I’ve really been in to the sandals that straps across your foot as opposed to flip-flop versions. They’re really comfortable and solve that bunion issue. These also wrap around the ankle, which I’m generally opposed to. Since I have larger calves, so cutting off my ankle tends to accentuate the legs. Therefore, I will usually pair some pants to distract and cover the legs. The pants I’m wearing are H&M black jeggings. I’m also wearing a BCBG “Amerly” loose fit chiffon tank and a BCBGeneration tuxedo stretch blazer. I have a Forever 21 duo necklace, Michael Kors gold chronograph watch, and a few sentimental bracelets from my travels.

IMG_2397I’d love to hear from all of you. What kind of sandals do you prefer; the strappy ones, flip-flop versions, or maybe the latest fad birkenstocks? Please don’t forget to leave a comment down below with your thoughts! And if you have any recommendations on comfortable flats for me, let me know down below as well! Sweater Weather

FullSizeRenderI guess it is back to reality. No more sun, beach, beautiful scenery. It’s back to the chilly sweater weather. I’ll have to admit, I’m the type of person that enjoys the sweater weather. Heat is exhausting, especially if you get sunburnt just like I did. You become sweaty and feel the need to take constant showers. But who am I kidding, I would trade this Reno weather to be back in Hawaii any day. But I guess it’s not so bad.

FullSizeRender-1Today it’s back to layers, sweaters, scarves, and boots. I’ve chosen a BCBGeneration cream crop sweater with a BCBG black tank with tulle detailing to add some length. I haven’t been much of a fan of crop tops to wear as every day wear, so instead I’ll wear longer tops to offset the shortness and the fear of showing my belly (which is in desperate need of some crunches).  I have some BCBG “Mason” leggings one with Charlotte Russe camel boots. I paired my outfit with a BCBG maroon scarf for a pop of color and a BCBGeneration drop crystal necklace. For the arm candy, I have my Michael Kors gold chronograph watch with some sentimental bracelets; the leather bracelet is from Disneyland from a stand that can customize your bracelet and the beaded bracelet is from Hawaii.

Is anyone else experiencing a confusedFullSizeRender-2 sense of seasonal styles? One minute I’m wearing coats, the next shorts, the next back to sweaters and boots. I’m curious how constant travelers deal with this relentless adaptation. I’d love to hear some of your thoughts in the comments down below. Don’t forget to follow me on twitter @jessthai!
